Students Can Achieve a Marks of Four Marks in an Examination
Every test or examination has certain specified marks that determine a person’s competence. A mark is given to a student who acquires four marks for every correct answer to a given question. The actual number of marks is not mentioned in any book or note and cannot be deduced from official records. Hence it is not clear as to how many marks a student should acquire in an examination. The entire grading system depends on the discretion and assessment of the examiner.
There are three types of examinations in which marks are given to students verbal, reading and writing. They all have different specifications and carry different weightage in determining the competence of an examinee. Verbal examinations are based entirely on what an individual says and the general knowledge possessed by the examinee. Writing examinations are based on whether the examinee can express his/her thoughts in terms of letters. It is generally believed that reading and writing tests are equally challenging and a student may acquire a mark according to his/her performance in each of them.
There are many factors that determine the score in an examination. Initially a student has to prepare well in order to score high marks in a particular examination. It is advisable to anonymous consult a tutor in this case so that he/she can guide you well in the initial stages of preparation. It is a well-known fact that the way in which the questions are framed determines how much the examinee will be able to retain information and therefore score better in the examination.
During an examination papers should be read thoroughly and understood fully before they are being prepared. An examinee needs to analyze the subject well in order to know what the author is trying to say. Once the student understands what the author is trying to convey in the paper then he/she should try to understand the main point of that particular paragraph in such a manner that a conclusion can be formed about the matter being discussed.
The student should not rush to write down his/her answers. He/she should spend adequate time in thinking about the answer rather than just answering immediately. This is because the answers appearing on the examination page might very well differ from those that appear on the final examination. Therefore, it is advisable to take some time to review the question rather than just answering it immediately.
While answering questions in an examination the student should ensure that he/she answers each question in detail. In general two or three correct answers are sufficient for passing an examination. However, if a question requires more than two correct answers, then the student will be given the wrong mark and this may spoil his/her chances of scoring good grades in future examinations. A student should try as much as possible to keep all the questions on one side of the page so that the focus of attention remains on the topic that has been raised in discussion during class.
When a student tries to find out the solution of a problem through calculations he/she should first read about the subject carefully before proceeding with the solution. If required the student can take help from a handbook or a calculator. In an examination a student scores 4 marks for every correct answer. Therefore, it is advisable to give the maximum possible effort to find the answer and then proceed to give a correct answer so that a correct mark is obtained.
For solving problems that require calculation, estimation or approximations, the student should first develop a working knowledge of the subject that needs to be solved. This can be achieved by reading many scientific journals on the same or by searching the internet. Problems that require multiple approximations can be found by consulting teachers or other experienced students. In order to have a fair chance of scoring high marks in an examination, a student should try as much as possible to work independently from the exam chair. The guidance of instructors and parents is of immense help in this endeavor.
